Technomaschine is a blog dedicated to classic techno music, usually ranging between the mid-80s and late 90s.
What is techno?
The name techno music was created and spread by the legendary techno producer and dj, the ‘Godfather of Techno’ Juan Atkins. He cites the book The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler for the use of the phrase ‘techno rebels’ for the term. Juan Atkins is part of ‘The Belleville Three’, the three individuals credited with the creation of techno music.

Juan Atkins is widely credited as the originator of techno music, earning him the title “The Godfather of Techno”. Along with Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, the three are known as the Belleville Three, as they all attended high school together in Bellevile, Michigan, located near Detroit, the birthplace of the techno scene.

With this track, Joey Beltram managed to help separate the house and techno movements into their own unique pathways by creating a darker, more minimal beat that could not be described with the term house. Often described as ground-breaking after release on Transmat records, it opened up the opportunity for darker sounding techno music to enter the scene.
